Beef

What makes ours different?
Grass-fed, grass-finished, heart-healthy…

And our grazing techniques benefit the environment!

Did you know that beef from cattle fed only grass right to the end has an entirely different nutrient profile than those fed grain? Did you know it only takes 2 weeks of feeding grain to ruin the nutritional value?

Did you know there are local farmers, farm stores, and retail stores trying to fool you by using the term grass-fed even though their meats are grain-finished (usually for months) and no better for you than the inexpensive low-quality meats in the store? Grass-fed and pasture raised are such hot products right now that you have to be very careful of claims on labels! There are many loopholes to these labels and terms.

Get to know the farmer who actually raises your food and ask questions!

We control the grazing, we control the hay fields, we make sure we are bringing you the very best, cleanest, and healthiest product.  These are great grass-fed breeds, not ones bred to be grain-fed.  Devon makes up the majority of our genetics because they are so great on grass!

We move our cattle, mostly daily, to fresh grass.  This does several things…..it makes the cattle eat the grass evenly, not just eating the “ice cream” and leaving the “broccoli”.  When they are allowed to eat large areas of land at a time, they leave some grasses behind that get too mature while they keep going back to some grasses and eat them over and over.  This leads to dead grass, weeds, and beaten areas of pasture that turn into mini deserts.  By moving them we naturally keep the pastures always improving!  Moving also causes them to distribute their “fertilizer” evenly so that it falls where it is needed and not just in a favorite loafing area!  This is also a huge help in fly control!  We move their water, shade, scratching spots, and minerals with them so they have all the comforts no matter where they are.

As you can imagine, this is a lot of work!  But it is the right way to do it.  The resulting beef is the absolute best you’ll ever find.
